As many of you know, I recently fostered to adopt this two-year-old English bulldog named Sergeant. The rescue, I adopted him from neglected to disclose that he was in need of a double knee surgery. After bringing him home, I had my vet give him a physical only to find out his back right leg ligament was torn and was in need of the surgery immediately. I contacted the rescue and they were unable to help me in any way shape or form leaving me no choice, but to either return him where they would unfortunately need to put him down due to lack of funding or I lay out the money for his double knee surgery personally. Insurance companies don’t cover pre existing conditions so unfortunately that is not an option. I just recently lost my dog Howie after almost a two year battle with cancer to only two months later adopting Sarge and being dealt another financial burden larger than I could handle. For those of you who know me know I do not ask for help and when I do, it’s because I severely need it. I’m still paying off the debts of Howie’s chemo treatment the past year and a half and I just thought I was doing a good thing by rescuing Sergeant, who came from an abusive home in Oklahoma, where they left cigarette burns on his head, knife wounds all along his back, had him living outside and deprived him of food. The rescue I saved him from seemed credible, but unfortunately, don’t value the lives of their dogs the same way that I do. Although Sarge is a new addition to my family, I’ve grown to love him so much already and would hate to see such a loving happy healthy young boy have to be put down at no fault of his own. So here I am attempting to raisie him funds to get this poor boy his first knee surgery out of the two he will need this year.
