Hi I’m Emily, Sara’s sister in law. Just a few months ago Sara developed a lump on her shoulder, that quickly went from just an unassuming bump to a very painful road of finding out it’s cancer. After countless doctors appoints with orthopedists, hematologists, oncologists, ortho surgeons, X-rays, ultrasounds, and MRI’s, a double bone and tissue biopsy, Sara has been diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma.
On Tuesday, Sara had surgery to remove the mass along with reconstructive surgery to the muscles. Thankfully all the cancer was successfully removed. However, the surgery turned out to be more complicated than initially thought, recovery is going very slow and is unfortunately very painful. While Sara is lucky enough to not have to go through chemo, she will require radiation, as well as extensive physical therapy. We are looking to try and offset the financial burden this has already created. Currently the costs of the care given and upcoming, out of pocket after insurance, is around 20k, at the moment Sara is trying to cover some immediate healthcare costs for services and payments needed now. Our family is so grateful and appreciative of any and all help, we are hopeful Sara will make a full recovery and will be able to resume her normal life.
