Help Me Regain My Independence with a Service Dog
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m reaching out with an open heart during a very vulnerable chapter of my life.
I am living with multiple complex and chronic conditions, including a rare heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome Type B, as well as Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. These conditions affect my daily life in ways that are often unpredictable and, at times, frightening. Recently, I’ve been experiencing more frequent episodes related to my heart condition, which has made everyday tasks feel overwhelming and, at times, unsafe.
For years, I had a service dog named Mo who was not just my companion, but my lifeline. Mo helped me navigate medical episodes, provided stability, and gave me the confidence to move through the world with a sense of safety and independence. Losing Mo in May was heartbreaking, and since then, I’ve been trying to adjust to life without that support—but the truth is, I need that help again.
A trained service dog can assist me by alerting me to changes in my heart rate, providing grounding during episodes, helping with mobility and balance, and offering the constant support that my conditions require. This isn’t just about companionship—it’s about safety, independence, and quality of life.
I’ve recently found a potential service dog prospect—Sir Finn—a long-haired dachshund with a gentle spirit and strong potential for training. Bringing him home and properly training him as a service dog would be life-changing for me. However, the costs involved are more than I can manage on my own right now.
Fundraising Goal: $5,000
This goal will help cover:
• Service dog adoption/purchase: $1,500
• Initial veterinary care (vaccines, check-ups, microchipping): $800
• Professional service dog training & supplies: $2,000
• Food, gear, and essential care items: $700
Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to regaining my independence and rebuilding the support system I lost. If you’re unable to donate, sharing my story would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of my journey. Your kindness and support truly mean everything.
With love and gratitude,
Sarah
