On August 1st, a major storm hit the Indianapolis area, bringing several inches of rain in a short time. The flash flooding overwhelmed the sewer system, and with nowhere for the water to go, it began to back up into people's basements.

Sarah Watson's basement took on several inches of water, and because the water was contaminated with sewage, almost everything had to be discarded. Clothing, furniture, appliances, hundreds of books, and keepsakes filled a 20-yard dumpster. Her floor was ruined, and the bottom 20 inches of drywall had to be removed.
