Early this morning on January 10, 2026, my sister, Sarah Maxwell, lost her home in a tragic house fire in Shawnee, KS. In an instant, everything she and her family owned was gone—clothes, keepsakes, furniture, and all the little things that make a house a home. Sarah is the most loving, selfless person I know. She’s a devoted grandma to her sweet grandson Weston, who lights up her world every day. She also has her two wonderful children living with her, and together they made their house a warm, welcoming place full of laughter and love.
Sarah has always been the one to help others—whether it’s watching grandkids, supporting friends through tough times, or just being there with a hug and a listening ear. Now, she’s the one who needs our help. The fire displaced the entire family, and they’re currently figuring out temporary housing while dealing with the shock and loss. Funds raised will go directly to Sarah to cover urgent needs like temporary housing or motel stays, clothing, diapers, toys, and essentials for Westin and the kids, food and daily necessities, replacing important documents, medications, and basic household items, and long-term recovery costs as they start over.
No amount is too small—every dollar will help ease this burden and give them a fresh start. If you can’t donate, please share this page far and wide. Sarah’s family has deep roots in the Logansport community, and your support would mean the world. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for any kindness you can show. Sarah is strong, but she doesn’t have to do this alone. Let’s wrap her, Westin, and her children in love and help them rebuild. With gratitude, Kipp Maxwell
