Help Sarah Rebuild After Fire Tragedy

Last week one of my closest friends, Sarah, lost her apartment to a fire. Electrical fires are swift, sudden, and devasting. Thankfully Shira (and the cats and the bunny too!) escaped safely while the apartment went up in flames.

Now they face the aftermath ... which is about as messy as you can imagine: hospital visits, insurance, clean-up, physical loss, and the shock and stress of it all. Not to mention navigating work and other responsibilities on top of it.

These situations are unrelenting chaos — even with insurance and planning. The financial reality often outweighs even the most responsible preparation. If you've been through a situation like this or know someone who has, you know there's no real way to be ready for it.
