Hi, my name is Laurie and my friend Sarah needs support and assistance in getting back on her feet after a fire destroyed her home.

Sarah had just moved from her home in Novato to a cute apartment (a quarter of a beautiful Victorian house) in San Rafael, after her soon to be ex-husband abruptly and unexpectedly left her and her adorable dog Mabel.

Moving was incredibly difficult - she had to downsize and really start over with new, smaller furnishings. She worked tirelessly for several weeks and did the entire move without professional help. She ordered new furnishings and put them together herself.... Her new place really was her own and promised to be a safe and happy place for Sarah and Mabel.

But on Monday June 14th, just a couple of weeks after moving in, her apartment caught on fire and was destroyed either by the flames or the smoke that permeated everything - even inside the medicine cabinet.

Sarah had to quickly find a dog friendly hotel and replace her and Mabel's necessities like dog food, a dog bed, clothing a toothbrush etc. Mabel's comfort items like her stuffed lamb and other toys were destroyed. Everything in Sarah's living room and kitchen was destroyed. San Rafael Fire saved some obviously important items but everything else will have to be replaced.  She had just moved in and didn’t have insurance  yet.....

It could take months to get her deposit back on her apartment and is now left to find a new home to live in and with very little to start over. I am hoping to raise funds to help with deposit and 1st months rent, storage for the surviving items, hotel room she's had this week, and to help replace all the furniture, television, computer, clothing, dog beds and toys and everything else she lost.....

Sarah is one of the kindest most gentlest souls I know and I will never understand the incredible loss or bad luck she has had in the past few months. She deserves nothing but goodness ... If you can help get her on her feet I and she would appreciate your kindness and support.
