Help Sarah Overcome Crisis and Rebuild Her Life
Donation protected
I'm reaching out to ask for your help for my partner, Sarah.
We have been in crisis for the past 7 weeks, with medical, legal, and mental health challenges. I suffer from a number of disabilities myself and I am all out of options for continuing to cover expenses.
Returning to work won’t be possible until the legal situation is resolved, and funds are needed to cover legal services as well as the cost of food and other living expenses.
In a week or two, we will be forced to make a choice between Sarah being able to afford food or paying for other necessities.
When I add it all up, it looks like $6,000 will be needed to cover expenses until Sarah can return to work, though I've set the goal a little higher, with the hopes that we can have a bit of a buffer for unexpected costs popping up.
Sarah is still struggling, especially over the way many members of her family have been pulling back from her and the uncertainties in her legal situation.
Your contribution, no matter the amount, will make a huge difference in helping Sarah rebuild her life with stability and safety, and help give her a sense of hope.
If you can't contribute but can share this, it is also very appreciated.
Thank you for your support and compassion.

For those looking for more details here some more on how we got here:
Sarah has had a difficult life, growing up in an abusive household and subject to extreme neglect. These experiences have left scars, leaving her with severe PTSD.
Instead of hardening her, these struggles have only increased her dedication to helping others. In her work as a peer advocate and benefits counselor she’s been fiercely devoted to making sure that no matter how much someone is struggling that they feel seen and heard, that their opinions and agency are respected and centered, and that a system that so often lets people fall through the cracks is doing what it’s supposed to for them.
But despite having made progress and receiving consistent treatment, the last several years have been very hard on her, including, in just the last year, a change in her living arrangements which resulted in her having to move back in with her mom, who was a significant contributor to her childhood trauma.
Despite attempts to make things work, being in that environment, along with other significant stressors ultimately led to a severe mental health crisis, resulting in an altercation with her mother as part of a suicide attempt. Unfortunately, instead of getting support, she’s been isolated by most of her family, and she faces legal challenges stemming from the altercation.
She's been able to acquire stable housing, away from her mom, and I'm hopeful that this will be a more stable environment for her to get back on track with. But we will absolutely be at a shortfall for several months while various parts of this process play out.
