The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds for Sarah Johnston during her ongoing divorce, including legal fees for herself and for the attorney appointed for her two children and to help her establish a new home for herself and her kids.

Sarah is a successful lighting designer based in New York City. She is a graduate of Brooklyn College's theatre design and production program and a member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829, IATSE. You may be familiar with some of her work, in award-winning Broadway shows including The Humans and Girl from the North Country and beyond Broadway in shows including Open, When We Went Electronic, Monsoon Season, and Medea. While theatrical lighting has been her passion since she first began working at The Barn Theatre in Stuart, FL as a teenager, she has also designed concert lighting and sets for musicians including Drake, Solange, and Big Boi. Currently, she works full-time at Focus Lighting, an award-winning architectural lighting design firm. Sarah is also a devoted mother to her two teenage children.

Unfortunately, in April of 2024, Sarah had to file for divorce from her husband of 16 years. Their case is one of the 10% of cases deemed high conflict, resulting in the need for an extraordinary level of support services and agents. Sarah's financial resources are exhausted. She needs support as she continues to strive towards a resolution, create a safe space for her children, and prepares to rebuild an independent life.
