Help Sarah get access to brain cancer treatments
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
Back in March I received the devastating news that my best friend, Sarah, had been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The last few months have been extremely hard, praying for good news but receiving the worst at every turn.
From birth, Sarah and I lived next door to each other, growing up through the same schools and then college. Our back gardens were divided by a fence, but our families were so close they installed a gate so we could make one big playground with both gardens.
Our parents still live in the same houses today, where the gate still stands, and all the memories we made together live fondly on.
In April, Sarah was ultimately diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM), which is an aggressive form of brain cancer. It’s the sort of thing that happens to other people, not to those who you are closest to. I still can’t believe I’m writing these words; it’s taken a while for me to accept the awful reality. Sarah is incredible, staying strong throughout the lengthy diagnostic process and now through her treatment. She has been a role model to me, her 3 young boys and all her friends; the strength, tenacity and determination she has shown has been extraordinary.
Although most of Sarah’s treatment is being handled within the NHS system, there are other private options available for alternative treatments, but at great cost. This is something we can all help with.
I’ve rallied around my other bridesmaids, Sam, Niki, Ness and Jo, who are similarly desperate to help and we’re going to hike a marathon (26 miles / 42 km) in the height of summer to raise funds for Sarah’s additional treatments. Any donation to this cause will mean the world to Sarah and her boys and will give access to better treatments to give her further quality time with her family.
Please donate and share if you can.
Thank you. Tam x
