Hello,

My name is Sarah Ford. I am fundraising to produce a film based on my solo show Georgia & Me.

Ten years ago, I wrote and performed “Georgia & Me,” in the 2011 New York International Theatre Festival. It won best solo show and since has been performed in venues from Texas to New York and New England. 
 

Georgia & Me is a celebration of the creative spirit that is hidden in each of us. It is the autobiographical fantasy of a woman, in the midst of a crisis trying to find a way back to her creative life, who conjures up iconic Georgia O’Keeffe, who defied the male art world. By bringing Georgia back to life, Sarah is challenged to rekindle her creative fire! This is a story about rediscovering a woman’s inner voice, which needs to be heard in a world where female voices have too often been silenced.

When the Covid Pandemic shuttered theaters and cancelled our bookings, I decided to produce a film based on the show so that I could reach a larger audience… those who are not only interested in Georgia O'Keeffe but those who have faced struggles like mine to give ourselves permission to take our creative work seriously. No matter your age, your gender, or your race.  Your time is NOW! 

 

We will actively, and artfully, use the medium of video to enhance the points of view and the fantasy of the play. The results will be an expanded, vibrant and intimate experience for the viewer.

 

Here is what funding will help to finance:

·      Rental of theatre space, lighting and sound equipment

·      Director to reconfigure the play and to direct the film

·      Cinematographer/film crew & equipment

·      Lighting designer/technician

·      Audio technician

·      Post production editing

·      Producing a promotional trailer

·      Publicity/Marketing/Distribution

 

Being able to produce Georgia & Me as a film will be a new opportunity to share it with a wider audience and the answer to a dream begun a decade ago.
