Help Sarah evacuate Gaza and continue her studies
Donation protected
Hello there,
Thank you for being here. My name is Sophie and I'm from the UK. Please stay a short while so I can tell you about Sarah, and why I’ve started this fundraiser.
These last 8 months have been harrowing – watching people’s lives destroyed in front of our eyes and being largely unable to help. It’s been difficult to know where best to send donations – both time and money. All this time I’ve been trying to look for an organisation making a direct difference and one that I can feel confident in.
I was introduced to Sarah through the Hands Up Project, a charity which connects children from around the world with children in Palestine. I am currently volunteering for the Hands Up Project and have seen first hand the amazing work that they do.
Sarah has previously been an active Hands Up Project member, taking part in online Hands Up Project classes and starring in the Shadow Girl (I’ve put a link to it below if you’d like to watch!)
It’s taken several weeks to be able to set up this Go Fund Me account. In that time, Sarah has had to evacuate Rafah and set up life in a tent with her family. She has to search for internet access and, even then, the messages sometimes take days to come through. Her voice notes reach me with a soundtrack of war planes and yesterday our conversation was cut short with a text from her that simply said, ‘Sophie I have to go now because the airplanes they’re getting louder…and I think it’s so dangerous to stay here now’.
…and then I wait, wondering what on earth she and her family are going through.
Let me introduce Sarah:
--------
My name is Sarah, and my journey in English translation has been one marked by resilience in the face of adversity. The echoes of war have shattered my university and my beloved home, leaving me with nothing but the determination to rebuild what was lost, and after the army invaded Rafah, which forced us to flee to a new area and live in another tent in an area where there are no basics necessitates for life.
Amid the rubble, my dreams remain steadfast, guiding me forward with unwavering resolve.
Before the chaos of conflict engulfed my world, I would have been a second-year English major student, I was excited and immersed in events and activities in my university and impulsive toward a bright future, but my future became unidentified after the occupation destroyed my university.
Everyone right now is trying to fix his future to get a chance for making it better, and luckily I got a golden chance which is a scholarship,
This chance represents not only an opportunity but a lifeline-a chance to breathe life into my aspirations and chart a course towards a brighter tomorrow.
For me, this isn't just about academic advancement: it's about reclaiming agency over my future and forging a path that honours the legacy of those who believed in me specially my beloved parents .
The issue that I’m facing right now that the travel costs are high, and if I can't save them, I'll lose an opportunity to rebuild my future, and I won't be able to help my family.
And Sophie came to my life to save my life chance, my family as well. I’m so glad for her to help me and for everyone who can help me regardless of size, will make a significant difference in helping me to go out of here and also to provide the basic necessities for my family.
--------
Please help me to help Sarah and her family - her parents, her brother and his wife and two children. It's a chance to make a direct difference to other humans just like us, born in very different circumstances.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
With hope,
Sophie
