Yesterday at 1:12pm Sarah & Donald Damron welcomed a sweet baby boy, Donald Reid Damron into the world.
Reid began having some complications very quickly after they cut the umbilical cord and thanks to the absolute angels at Kings Daughters, he was able to get amazing care. Within 15 minutes, he was intubated and in the NICU. After several hours of waiting for answers Sarah & Donald were then told Reid has a congenital heart defect after the NICU team got a stat echo while they waited on UK transport.
Reid has “transposition of the great arteries”, which will require him to have open heart within about a week.
He was transported to UK via air and had a whole team waiting for him in the cath lab where they performed a balloon atrial septostomy in hopes to stabilize him, which has been very very successful. He is still on the ventilator and some medications to support his blood pressure, Reid will have to stay in the hospital as he recovers from the procedures he will be having in the upcoming days and the family will need to rent a place to stay, and travel back and forth from Lexington to Grayson to care for the girls and take care of different things at home so donations to help with these expenses are incredibly appreciated, and more than anything else they need your prayers for their precious baby boy and peace over these next few weeks. Thank you so much for reading and for your donations!
