Last year, nearing the end of my very first DPW contract, I was rushed to the emergency room in Reno for sudden sharp pains that I presumed and feared were kidney-related.

I was informed by my doctor that I had a severe kidney infection and that my scans revealed a 9 mm kidney stone.

Two ER visits, one expensive visit to Urology Nevada, and one emergency lithotripsy procedure later, and I'm still working through the complexities of covering the costs of medical bills from outside of my home state.

Though I myself have never done this before, I do consider crowdfunding to offset the crushing burden of exorbitant medical costs to be one of the few ways we can help one another in a collapsing system.
