Help Sarah and Service Dog Siggy Find Safe Housing
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m reaching out for help after facing years of unimaginable challenges and trauma. From a young age, I endured severe abuse, neglect, and trafficking, which led to diagnoses of PTSD, CPTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. Over the years, I’ve struggled with both physical and mental health challenges, including a permanent traumatic brain injury from a car accident and ongoing discrimination due to my disabilities.
In life, I never imagined that I would experience so many trials, endure so much pain, and have so many tears escape from my eyes. Despite the adversities I have faced, I have learned how to persevere no matter what obstacles come my way.
Since October 2023, I’ve applied to over 3,000 jobs but have been unable to secure stable employment due to disability-related barriers. I’ve exhausted all my savings, retirement funds, and even sold off most of my personal belongings just to survive. My service dog, Siggy, who helps me manage my disabilities, is my only support. But together, we are now living in my vehicle after being turned away from several shelters because of Siggy, my service dog.
You never imagine that things like this can happen to you until they do. After my accident that left me with a traumatic brain injury, it seemed like no matter how hard I tried to keep it all together, everything just kept spiraling.
In December 2023, I returned to self-employment, but my income is extremely limited—just $217 a month. I struggle daily to cover basic living expenses, but I continue to search for opportunities to rebuild my life despite the barriers that my disability has caused me.
I’ve always prided myself on my independence, but right now, I’m in urgent need of help. I’m not asking for a handout, but I’m humbly asking for a hand up with assistance to cover housing and essential living expenses as I work toward rebuilding my life and financial stability.
I am currently working with a pastoral care team and another nonprofit organization to create long-term stability so that I never have to experience a trial like this again.
However, this doesn’t solve the real-life crisis and experience that we are dealing with during this very moment; nor does it put a roof over Siggy and my head during the process.
As the weather is turning cold, the thought of Siggy, my service dog, having to shiver as we sleep in my car simply crushes me. She is all I have, and I am not only fighting to get my life back, but I’m fighting to give her the quality of life that she deserves. She has done so much for me, and I’m determined to get us out of this situation as soon as possible. She is such a good girl! The best girl!
It’s been such a hard road. Every human deserves to feel safe and have a place to lay their head without having to live in a constant state of fear or anxiety of what the night may bring.
Again, I’m not asking for a handout, but simply a hand up.
Your support of any amount would truly be a blessing for the immediate needs that Siggy and I are experiencing.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
• Housing (rent, deposits, payments)
• Utilities (electricity, water, internet, etc.)
• Groceries and daily living necessities
• Transportation (fuel, insurance, maintenance)
• Service Dog essentials (food, heartworm & flea/tick prevention, veterinary care)
The total amount I’m hoping to raise is $10,000. Every dollar counts, and no amount is too small. Your donation will help me secure safe housing and relieve the daily stress of survival so I can focus on rebuilding my life and working toward long-term stability.
If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign would also mean the world to me. Your support, in any form, is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for reading my story, and for considering a contribution during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sarah and Siggy
