Hello! My name is Sa’Rae, and I’m a 10th-grade student. I was recently honored to be invited to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum: Engineering at George Mason University, a prestigious summer program that brings together high-achieving students from across the country who share an interest in innovation, problem-solving, and STEM careers. This invitation was extended based on my academic standing. I currently maintain a 4.4 GPA and am ranked 7th in my 10th-grade class. I am also a proud member of the National Honor Society and the Towne Leadership Council, and I strive to challenge myself both academically and personally.

While I would describe myself as someone who enjoys quiet moments at home, receiving this invitation encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone. When I learned I had been selected for such a competitive program, I felt proud, excited, and motivated to explore a future I have long been interested in—engineering. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to all types of music, reading fantasy and romance novels, and spending time with my dog, Thor—my energetic pitbull who always keeps me smiling. My favorite color is pink, I’m a huge foodie, and I can never resist a trip to K-Pot or a cup of boba tea.

Attending this program at George Mason University would give me the opportunity to stay on a college campus, collaborate with students from across the nation, and learn directly from professionals in the engineering field. This experience would help me grow academically, strengthen my confidence, and better prepare me for college and future career goals. Any contribution—no matter the size—would help bring me closer to participating in this life-changing opportunity.
