Help Sarabi fight FIP

Sarabi is a 4 month old kitten who we found abandoned with her brother when they were just a few days old. Her journey began then with bottle feedings every two hours, multiple vet visits, and lots of love. We thought the hard part was over and have enjoyed lots of play time and cuddles with her for the past several months. She's brought a lot of happiness to our family during this crazy year. A week ago we noticed her belly was looking rather round on her small frame. After a couple vet visits and multiple tests on her blood, urine, and abdominal fluid, she was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). This is a type of virus that is common in cats, but is usually fought off by their immune system. In rare cases like Sarabi's the virus mutates and becomes FIP. Sarabi has what is called wet FIP which is the most aggressive form. Her abdominal body cavity is filling up with fluid at an alarming rate. FIP is fatal in more than 95% of cases and there are few treatments and no vaccines available. Of course if you know me I am passionate about saving animals and began my research right away. There is a treatment that has helped save many cats from FIP, with a cure rate of 80% based on a UC Davis study. Sarabi qualifies for treatment and has been on it for six days now. We thought we had a couple days to a couple weeks left with our little kitten and now we see real hope. Before, she was sleeping all day, not playing at all, only getting up to get a drink of water or bite to eat. She was showing neurological signs of health decline like the inability to retract her claws at times and not a lot of focus in her eyes. The first couple days of treatment I noticed no change, then day three a huge turn around. She has been running around the house more and more, has been more interested in interactions with people and toys. Though we still have a long way to go and her belly is still filled with fluid, we have hope that this could work. The treatment is 12 weeks and cost between 2000 and 4000 dollars. We have already put 1300 of our own money into treatment, but have come to a point where we can't give any more financially. This brings me to the hard question... if you feel led after reading Sarabi's story to donate you could be saving her life. We appreciate any help we can get so Sarabi has a chance at a future. If we cannot raise the funds we will do what we can to make her as comfortable as possible for as long as we can. We will keep you updated with how treatment is going and the improvements we see. Thank you for taking the time to read Sarabi's story. She's an amazing little kitty and we love her so so much.
