Help Sara Tomko with Unexpected Medical Expenses

As most are unaware,
Sara had a life threatening bleed in her stomach last week. While at work, Sara unexpectedly became very faint and threw up excessive amounts of blood multiple times and then passed out. Her coworkers acted quickly and called 911. Taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital, she was immediately cared for.
Unfortunately though, for best chance of survival, she had to be Life Flighted to UPMC where she has now underwent 3 separate scopes to try and fix the problem. Sara has received over 20 units of blood through blood transfusions and was placed on a ventilator on three separate occasions. Doctors eventually found out an there was a vessel that was bleeding into her stomach through an ulcer that was 3cm in length.
As if this news wasn’t devastating enough, When sara was very young she had a liver transplant because of the alpha-1 Antitripsyn gene that was passed onto her by genetics causing her liver to need replaced by the age of
20. This makes this recent medical episode all the more serious because the liver is part of the GI tract.
If it weren’t for the support of her Mom, Dad, step mom, step dad, her brother and her boyfriend, Sara wouldn’t be as strong as she is today.
The expenses of this devastating medical episode will undoubtedly be more than Sara can handle by herself. I am asking everyone who knows Sara, and of all those looking for something to give to this holiday season to please help in some way and send your best wishes while Sara begins to recover from this horrific event. Let’s help her focus on getting better and not the burden of medical expenses!
We are really hoping to raise enough to help Sara at least have enough money to not worry about living expenses for a few months while she gets back on her feet. THANK YOU ALL. WE LOVE YOU SARA!!!
