Help Sara save her curly locks

Hello! Thank you so much for taking time to view this page. As many of you know, Sara has had a very busy 2 1/2 months. She has conquered ultrasounds, pet scans, surgery and multiple appointments with her great team of providers. Her surgery and biopsy are behind her. She will now move to the next phase of port placement and chemotherapy. Sara’s oncologist informed her that the chemotherapy she receives will result in hair loss and that there is a small chance of her hair not returning. Her doctor recommended looking into a treatment called cold capping. The technology behind cold cap therapy is quite simple, but it can make a huge difference. Sara will wear a (freezing) cold cap just before, during and for 4 hours after chemotherapy infusions. Cooling the scalp prevents hair loss by reducing blood flow to the hair follicle and slowing the rate of cellular growth, thereby reducing the effect of any chemo that is present. It’s cold and a bit painful, but it’s very effective. These cold caps are expensive and are not covered by insurance. Here is where we all come in and help. We are looking to raise around $4,000 to cover cost of cold caps and medical bills. Please know this fundraiser is not about Sara’s vanity. Cancer is ugly and cruel and a small yellow cap can be a giant step in taking back a small sliver of power and control in this whirlwind. This fundraiser is to help Sara maintain a sense of normalcy as she embarks on this unfamiliar and difficult journey of chemotherapy and radiation. Please donate if you are in a position to do so, or simply share this page. Sara has felt love from everyone and appreciates continuing support as she begins the next stage in her battle to beat this.
