Hi everyone! My name is Anna Ryzenga, and my sisters and I are creating this gofundme on behalf of our amazing Mom, Sara Ryzenga.

For those who might not know, in February of 2023, Sara was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had spread throughout her body. With the help of her amazing doctors, they worked quickly to start what they knew to be the best treatment at the time, and for a while her body responded well to treatment.

Now, a few years into this journey, the cancer has since regrown, and in the past year Sara has found a specialized team of incredible doctors in Houston at MD Anderson who directly work with and research her specific cancer. She is currently undergoing radiation and maintenance chemo to try and reduce/eliminate the cancerous cells. So far, she has responded well to chemotherapy!

Ultimately, the reason why we, Sara’s daughters, are asking for a little help from our community is because on top of piling medical bills, Sara now needs to travel to Houston regularly to receive scans and treatment from the team there. Though they would never ask for help from others, and are always the first to offer help, we know that it is a hard time financially for our parents. They are the most generous people we know, and we don’t want them to have to be stressed and overwhelmed when it comes to medical care for this diagnosis.

Insurance will not cover any of our Mom’s travel or lodging bills every time she travels to Houston, which has become more and more regular.

Times are hard for a lot of people currently, so we know people might not be able to donate, but at the very least if you can read this and share to someone, we would be forever grateful.

We love you all very much, and we are so incredibly proud of our Mom.
