As many of you already may know, Sara was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2020. After going through chemotherapy and radiation during the pandemic, she was "cancer-free" for the past 4 years. During this time, she followed her dreams to live in NYC where she has been the past 3 years. To celebrate her 5-year cancer anniversary she was preparing to run the NYC marathon, but unfortunately life had other plans in store. A routine scan earlier this year showed that Sara's cancer is back and now she is facing a completely different marathon. As this is her second time going through treatment, her doctor's have prescribed a very aggressive plan to eradicate it for good this time. Due to the intensity of this treatment plan there is a high-risk of infertility, so before treatment started she underwent an egg retrieval/freezing procedure to prepare for a future family. With her oncologist, mom and a larger support network being in Georgia, Sara has moved back home to start treatment.

Sara has already begun the process of killing the cancer and is preparing her body for a stem cell transplant. She will undergo a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy prior to the stem cell transplant. With this treatment plan there will be multiple overnight stays in the hospital. After the stem cell transplant takes place she will require 24/7 care for 30-60 days, as well as daily trips to Northside Hospital.

She will obviously incur an insurmountable amount of medical expenses throughout this process, but there are many more expenses that she and her mom, Gina, will face during the next 6-8 months. Gina has already exhausted her leave at work so all of the time she takes caring for Sara moving forward will be unpaid. So, the goal is to give them some monetary support to help relieve the financial burdens they will face over the next few months from medical expenses, costs on Sara's temporary relocation from NYC and time both of them will have to take away from work.

This is a very difficult time emotionally, physically and financially so we hope that we can all rally together to support them both through this. Sara is a strong fighter, and she has done this once - so let's help her win this battle for a second time. Gina and Sara are already feeling the love and support - they truly feel so blessed to have so many who are there and praying for them.
