Sara has a long journey of wrestling with chronic illness, beginning when she was in high school. After a season of good health and functionality, Sara's health has declined rapidly over the last few months due to a series of stressful life events and circumstances.

On October 7, 2025, Sara suffered three suspected TIA's (transient ischemic attacks) (layman's translation: mini stroke). At this point, it is undeniable that Sara needs significant, ongoing medical care as she recovers from these strokes and tries to prevent anything worse.

Matthew and Sara are stretched thin financially as they have been in a transition period since Matthew left a job earlier this year due to burnout. In addition to the loss of steady income, they have been dealing with one car trouble (accident, theft, etc) after another as well as Sara's increasing health needs, both of which incur a lot of expenses all during their first two years of marriage.

However, because car troubles and necessities like rent and groceries have often been more immediate, preventing and treating Sara's health needs have sometimes been neglected or postponed, meaning that she has progressively declined in health, leading to the TIA's. In addition to the financial strain, Matthew and Sara have been struggling to recover from the burnout they've been experiencing over the last year, which also makes Sara's physical recovery that much harder.

They are now at a place of feeling stuck and unable to make significant progress in healing/recovery due to the downward cycle of ongoing financial strain, recurring health needs, and a variety of other stressors/circumstances. Financial assistance is a tangible way that we can love and serve Matthew and Sara in this season—so that Sara can get the medical attention she needs to heal, and so that both of them can be relieved from the burden of continually wondering how they will be able to pay the next bill as they are getting back on their feet again.
