Hi All! Some know me as Sara Garcia, some as Sangeeta Kaur. My husband Gustavo and I have two beautiful children ages 3 and 5. My sweet, innocent husband has been detained by ICE. He was on his way to work with his Boss and 12 to 13 black SUVs surrounded them. Thank goodness they didn't come to our apartment, which we think they were on their way. I feel we were divinely protected.
He came here from Mexico fleeing from a violent life, trauma, and poverty in his younger years. He has tried to become a citizen many times. He paid his taxes. We have been through 4 Lawyers.
Gustavo is a very hard worker , that is actually how we met ... We worked together in the kitchen. After working 2 jobs all day, around midnight, he would come and help me finish my job because he didn't want me working that hard and alone in the basement . He is like a second mother to these children, a real gentleman, a pure, playful heart. He never raises his voice. We fell in Love through playfulness and couldn't even fully communicate at that time.
We both have been quite Isolated from the outside world, which left us feeling invisible. He started working 16 hour shifts. It was so hard for me to see him always exhausted and I was scrambling to find a way to bring in money again too.
Tired of living in fear and isolation, we decided we might have the kids and I go see what Mexico was like and decide if we wanted to move there. We were trying to save up for our future and felt motivated again. We were looking forward to our new beginning. This is what we were thinking right before he was taken.
Kids and I have been camping at my parents while we prepare the garage sale of our lives, pack, work with Lawyer , close accounts, and PRAY.
We are looking for help with lawyer payments, flights, basic living expenses, to continue building our home, getting a car, water purifier, starting a business, classes for kids.
Many of you know that the American dollar can go much further in Mexico. If you are unable to help financially, we would be so grateful for prayers and projections. We truly believe in the power of prayer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being our witness and village.
Feel free to ask questions, I do hope to document our journey and experience to keep all informed.
