Help Sara get to Spain for life saving surgery
Donation protected
It is difficult to have to write this but Sara, Mark and their 4 incredible children need your help.
We need to raise much needed funds to get Sara to Spain for surgery as her Stage 2 Oligodendroglioma has reoccurred. Professor Charlie Teo has graciously agreed to perform Sara’s surgery for the second time however we need to raise $90,000 in order for this to happen. Unfortunately Australia’s medical system has let Sara down time and time again. From the first hospitalisation when Sara was told she was fine after a being knocked out by an unsuspected headbut from her then 5yr old son, which resulted in a seizure. Sara has had to push for basic medical investigation and treatment. This has gone as far as Sara being told her 6 monthly scans for the last two years were all clear even though they have shown signs of the cancers return. Sara only found out the cancer had returned after personally sending the scans to Dr Charlie Teo for him to review them.
Sara’s current doctors have refused to operate on the tumour and actually informed her the tumour had crossed the midline in a place that wasn’t operable. We cannot stand by and watch our dear friend, Sara - a dedicated wife and mother of 4 young children, not be given a fighting chance of survival.
Before being given this latest life altering diagnoses Sara and Mark began building their dream home. They now risk having to sell it all in order to afford the life saving surgery.
We first met Sara, Mark and their children in 2017 at Banka Banka in outback Northern Territory. We instantly became friends and have stayed close for the last 7 years.
We would love to raise enough money to cover Sara’s expenses to get to Spain and back, cover the surgery costs and have enough left over to cover expense’s whilst she recovers so that she doesn’t have to rush back to work.
Thankyou for taking the time to read Sara's story and thank you for your donation if you choose to help.
