Help Sara get a Prosthetic Leg for Running

Hi there, my name is Sara and Im fundraising for getting a new prosthetic leg.

Around ten years ago when I was only 18 years old, I was hit by a truck in Brazil on my way to college and had to go through an amputation to survive. It was a construction dumper truck and, fortunately, I got some help from the company to buy some of my legs.

With the money, I also decided to go after my dreams about travelling the world. That's how I ended up living in Ireland, and I don't see myself living anywhere else anymore. I love it here. I've been working as a childminder, and I'm also a poet. You can check my Instagram page where I post my poems at this Link.

I can say I'm a thrilled person, and I have a beautiful life after all that happened. But I still have to live with the consequences of a physical disability. In Brazil, we have a free health system which gives us the possibility of having one leg per year free of cost. That's how I got 2 of my legs from the pictures. The other 2 I got with the help of family and friends. As I decided to remain in Ireland, I have no access to the free system in Brazil anymore.

As an immigrant, I have to pay for my studies to remain in the country. I also, of course, need to pay my rent, utility bills and eventual dispenses with all my legs.

Yesterday I went to an Orthopedic Clinic to ask for a quotation of a new leg as all my old legs are now getting out of date.

The last time I was able to go for a run was ten years ago.

I would love to be able to do some hiking around here and feel the wind blowing on my face while running around the Liffey.

The price for a new modern leg that would give me back the capacity to run again is around 12 thousand euros, and I would need at least two years to get this money by myself.

That is why I decided to ask for your help here.
