Hello! Sara has had an incredibly rough year. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39 and has undergone intense treatment. Chemotherapy, double mastectomy, radiation, hormone therapy - all in an effort to eradicate the breast cancer AND prevent reoccurrence.

There is a treatment that reduces the risk of reoccurrence by 30%. It is available and FDA approved in the US (abemaciclib). However, the drug is currently pending Health Canada approval and could take up to a year for final approval. That means it is not available to her unless she pays out of pocket. She cannot wait for approval as the drug is only effective if taken within a certain timeframe.
