Help 6-Year-Old Saquon Wilson Recover After Devastating E-Bike Crash
Ask anyone who knows Saquon Wilson, and they’ll tell you it takes a lot to remove the smile from his face.
The happy-go-lucky 6-year-old St. Augustine boy loves football, meeting new people and making friends. But this week, Saquon was seriously injured in an e-bike accident near his home.
Saquon was riding with his older sister when the bike either hit a bump or stopped suddenly, throwing both children forward, according to the family. Saquon’s head struck the asphalt, and he suffered a severe injury.
The first grader at Crookshank Elementary School was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered brain swelling and serious injuries near his eye before performing surgery.
Saquon has been able to speak, but told his family he was scared and could not see clearly. Doctors are continuing scans and treatment, and specialists - including plastic surgeons -- have been called in because of the depth of the head wound.
His sister also suffered cuts, bruises and a mouth injury. She is recovering.
Saquon’s family, including his mom Jackie and dad Laquone, is now facing an unexpected financial burden from medical expenses, follow-up care, time away from work and the costs that come with staying by his side during treatment.
Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help Saquon and his family through this frightening time.
