Hello,

My name is Ryan Tanner and since February 2026 I’ve been chatting with Sanyu, a 16 year old orphan living in Uganda. After hearing his story and walking alongside him for two months I’ve decided to create a GoFundMe for him so that he can pursue his dreams and goals.

Sanyu wants to finish his education so that he can pursue new opportunities as far as a career and occupation. Without having education, it’s really difficult to make a living in Uganda and pursue opportunities for growth and development.

Here are the costs that your donation will go towards:

Bike (to travel back and forth from school)

150,000 UGX ($40 USD)

Textbook and other school materials

300,000 UGX ($80 USD)

Yearly school fees (4 years total)

1,160,000 UGX ($310 USD)

Monthly food support

75,000 UGX ($20 USD/month)

We are looking to pay for four years of schooling, necessary textbook materials, a bike to help Sanyu get to and from his classes, and, as led, support him in monthly food costs so Sanyu can focus on his studies.

I will be personally overseeing the allocation of these funds and will assure you that they will be used appropriately. I plan on holding onto the funds for schooling each year and then also giving funds for food twice a month.

Lastly, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I feel compelled to share some Scripture about God’s heart towards the poor and orphans. Scripture is so clear that God is the defender of the defenceless and that those who bless the poor will be blessed in return. Scripture even goes as far to say that true religion is helping widows and orphans in their affliction (James 1:27).

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”
