Here’s how I came to know about Santoshi’s health situation:

A few weeks ago, I needed some clothing materials tailored before my travel and called Santoshi, as I always do. She told me she’d been at the hospital all day, so I planned to visit later. I thought maybe it was just a routine check-up or she was assisting a family member.

That evening, she messaged me saying I could drop the materials off. I expected the usual warm welcome when I arrived—but instead, it was her sister who greeted me at the door. I asked if Santoshi was resting after her hospital visit, and her sister replied, "She’s not feeling well.”

I handed over the fabric, got on my bike, and left with a growing sense of unease.

Later that night, I reached out to Santoshi, asking if everything was okay. The next day, she responded, “Something might be off with my health. I’ll know more once the reports come in.” We left it at that.

When I returned from my travels, I went to visit her. She greeted me with a soft smile, but her eyes were filled with worry. In her small tailoring room, surrounded by fabrics and thread, she quietly shared that she might have cancer.

Then, in a moment I’ll never forget, she said:

“Since I don’t have the financial resources to face this illness, I thought I would take lots of antibiotics to suppress the symptoms... and eventually die, without burdening my family.”

That moment hit me deeply.

This is why I’m here now, sharing her story and asking for your help. No one should ever have to feel like their life isn’t worth fighting for because of financial struggles.

I’ve known and worked closely with Santoshi for the past five years. She’s a talented tailor who has crafted countless beautiful pieces for me and many others. A mother of two teenage children and the sole breadwinner for her family. She’s a strong, resilient woman who has supported her children through every hardship. And through it all, she has remained kind, selfless, and hopeful—dreaming of a brighter future for her children.
