Santi, my 9-month-old puppy, was officially diagnosed with elbow dysplasia today, and the surgeon wants to do surgery... tomorrow The estimate ranges from about $6500-7300, and I only have about $3000 on my care credit. So, once again, I am here to ask for your help.
When I lost my soulmate dog, Ezi, back in January, I decided to adopt a puppy to hopefully avoid any major medical issues for a while. I adopted Santi at 12 weeks old in February and immediately purchased pet insurance. Well, you know what they say about best-laid plans...
In July, Santi started to experience some weird symptoms, eventually struggling to walk. Because our pet insurance has a 6-month waiting period before they will cover anything ligament related, seeing a vet for a limp 5 months into having pet insurance means that they now consider this a pre-existing condition. They will not cover a single cent of anything that is in any way related to "ligament issues."
Those who know Santi know what a sweet, goofy boy he is. He is extremely athletic and loves to hike, play, and swim. While surgery won't cure his elbow dysplasia (he will no doubt develop arthritis and will need both preventatives and treatment like injections for the rest of his life), it will allow him to do everything that he loves to do with minimal pain. Without surgery, his mobility will continue to decline. He is already unable to run and hike, and he is in pain every single day, even with medication. We are fighting against the clock as any more cartilage loss will negatively affect the outcome of the surgery.
Trying to come up with at least $4000 in less than 24 hours is crazy, but I have to try. Any amount is helpful and very appreciated.
