For years, 12-year-old B has shown up for children with cancer. Now, she needs us to show up for her.
B and her mom, Tiffany, are hoping to travel from Santa Clarita to Washington, D.C., for CureFest—a national childhood cancer advocacy event that means deeply to B. With CureFest just around the corner, we're hoping to raise $4,000 to help make this trip possible.
B
B was born with a tumor on her lung and has faced serious medical challenges throughout her life. But rather than allowing those experiences to close her off from the world, B and her family have opened their hearts and their home to others.
At just 12 years old, B has found a remarkable way to turn her own experiences into compassion and action—especially for children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
Her list of giving is extraordinary.
For nine years and counting, B has organized Play-Doh drives for patients at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She makes bracelets and donates the proceeds to pediatric cancer patients and their families, helping them create special memories during incredibly difficult times. She visits patients at CHLA, creates care packages, arranges professional photoshoots, and takes children on special outings so they can simply enjoy being kids.
She even raised money to purchase a wagon for a young patient friend who needed a comfortable way to get around with her family—and filled it with toys and goodies.
Most recently, B organized a drive that collected more than 10,000 Band-Aids for pediatric patients at CHLA, choosing favorite characters and colors to bring a little more joy to their hospital experience.
B's connection to pediatric cancer is deeply personal. She has experienced the pain of losing deeply loved friends to pediatric cancer. These losses have strengthened her determination to raise awareness and continue showing up for children and families who are still fighting.
Now, B wants to take that commitment to Washington, D.C., where she hopes to participate in CureFest this September and connect with the larger childhood cancer community.
Tiffany
Where does B get her passion for helping others? In large part, she learned it from her mom.
Tiffany has spent years turning her own experiences with childhood illness and the challenges faced by families into meaningful community service.
Among her many projects are efforts to support families who have experienced loss while also facing significant financial hardship; an annual holiday giveaway, now in its sixth year, in which she gathers, wraps, and distributes gifts to families who want to provide a special holiday for their children; and her Back-to-School Backpack & School Supplies Giveaway, which recently completed its seventh year and provides supplies to elementary and secondary students.
These are just a few examples of the large-scale projects Tiffany has organized. She has also consistently made herself available to individuals and families who reach out when they need help.
B's heart for giving didn't develop in isolation. She has grown up watching her mom show up for people—and she has found her own way to do the same.
Why CureFest?
CureFest brings together children and families affected by childhood cancer, advocates, medical professionals, community members, and elected representatives with a shared goal: making childhood cancer a national priority.
For B, this isn't simply an event she wants to attend. It is an opportunity to be part of a much larger community connected to a cause that has shaped her life.
She wants to honor children who have lost their lives to cancer, stand alongside those who continue to fight, build awareness, and return home inspired to continue the work she is already doing.
CureFest also includes a moving memorial honoring children who have died from childhood cancer, along with opportunities for families and advocates to come together, share their experiences, raise awareness, and support one another.
We believe this experience could be incredibly meaningful for B—and could give her an even stronger sense of connection and purpose as she continues advocating for children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
How You Can Help
We're hoping to raise approximately $4,000 to help B and Tiffany cover the costs of traveling to Washington, D.C., including airfare, required oxygen for B's travel, lodging, meals, and local transportation.
No guilt. No pressure. Just a simple invitation to help make something meaningful possible for a young girl who has spent years helping make meaningful things possible for other people.
Any amount helps. And if you aren't able to contribute financially, sharing B's story can help just as much.
The Bottom Line
B and Tiffany have spent years showing up for other people. Now Santa Clarita has a chance to show up for them. They never helped others expecting anything in return. They simply saw a need and did what they could. Now we're asking our community to do the same for them.
Help us get B and Tiffany to CureFest.
