Sans was found in Maltepe, Istanbul, Turkiye after being severely beaten, leaving his face injured and his jaw broken. We named him Sans, meaning “chance” in Turkish, because that was exactly what we wanted to give him. After being rescued, Sans underwent surgery to repair his jaw, but his recovery became much more complicated than expected. An initial false-positive FeLV result delayed further treatment while we pursued additional testing to clarify his status.

Eventually, a CT scan revealed extensive damage from his original trauma, including damage to his nasal and sinus structures, a suspected blow-out fracture, a defect in his hard palate, changes from his previous jaw fracture, and possible infection around the surgical area. He also developed infections in both middle ears.

Today, Sans continues to suffer from persistent infection and discharge from his nose and ears despite treatment. I am now consulting with multiple veterinarians and surgeons to determine what can be surgically repaired and whether we can finally address the underlying source of his infection.

We are raising funds for his specialist consultations, testing, medications, ongoing treatment, and potential surgery. What began as an emergency rescue has become a complicated and costly medical journey, and we need help continuing it.

Despite everything humans have put him through, Sans remains incredibly loving and trusting. He has already fought so hard.
