Help Sanne get her stolen equipment back

Hi, I am Sanne, an independent documentary photographer from the Netherlands. I have lost all my photography equipment in Morocco last month due to a theft.

I was working on my photography project 'Under the Same Sun' in Casablanca. I have been working on this project for almost 5 years now. Morocco was one of my last trips before finishing this project. Next year a photo book and exhibition is planned.

What happened

Last November I went to Morocco to photograph new millennials. My friend en photographer Marlike came with me to assist me during the week.

We would split our week between Casablanca and Tanger. The first days we discovered Casablanca and I already photographed new millennials. We were about to make the 4 hour drive to Tanger on Sunday when it all happened.

We were almost ready to go. All our luggage was packed in our apartment and we went away to get some breakfast at a restaurant literally 2 mins from our apartment. Half an hour later we came back and all of our valuables were gone...

This was a very well planned theft and the police told us that they probably have been spying on us the whole time we were there. We even heard a big bang the night before and they've probably tried to break the entrance gate during night time to avoid being visible in the street.

I was really scared and sad after the event and both Marlike and I wanted to go home. What was the purpose of staying without having my camera there? Luckily Marlike helped me stay positive and came with the idea to at least make some photos with her camera (which the thief surprisingly did not take). I've made self portraits and new portraits of two millennials. Though I am really sad this all happened I am really happy I stayed and tried to make the most out of the last days there.

To sum it up

Like I've said, all my equipment to finish this project is stolen. Even the work (film rolls) I shot before the theft is stolen. I am not able to continue my work without my camera, lightmeter etc. The last couple of years I have worked my ass of to purchase this equipment so you can imagine how heartbroken I am to have lost it all.
