Our mom, Sandy Strickland, has been renting the same home bordering a beautiful cow pasture in Sparta, North Carolina for more than 5 years. She has been formally asked to evict the apartment she currently lives in because the landlord wants to remodel the space into a "vacation home". She has until August 31st of this month leave her home.
This action brought on by her landlord has simply turned ours and our mother's life upside down during already hard times for so many of us. Only receiving $720/month in social security, our mother has no transportation and certainly no savings. She is a prime candidate for homelessness and loss of all sense of safety and security due to her landlords intentions.
We are here today to ask for your help. We understand these times are hard and that many of you are also experiencing similar hardships. This, any contribution you make is helpful: especially your time. Even a comment and a share may help us get to our goal of $1,500 by helping us get the word out. These funds will pay for her first months rent, a pet deposit for her two elderly dogs, and her down payment for a new-to-her apartment/duplex.
We understand these times are hard and that many of you are also experiencing similar hardships. Again, any contribution towards Sandy's housing funds will go a long way.
We thank you so much for your time,
The children of Sandy Strickland, a true dependant
