My immediate need:
Cancer treatment has caused me to miss multiple paychecks, and right now my immediate goal is simply to catch up on my car payments so I can keep my car while continuing radiation treatments.
My story
My name is Sandy, and I’m currently facing breast cancer.
I first battled breast cancer in 2018 and went through a double mastectomy and 18 months of chemotherapy. I never imagined I would have to face this journey again, but this year cancer returned.
My current treatment includes surgery to remove both the cancer and my implant, followed by radiation and later reconstruction. These procedures require recovery time and many days when I physically cannot work.
What many people don’t realize is that teachers are paid under yearly contracts. When I miss work for surgery or treatment, I don’t just lose income. I actually owe money back to my school district for those days. Instead of receiving a paycheck, I’m paying money back.
Because of this, I’ve already lost several paychecks while still trying to keep up with normal bills.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me. I’ve always tried to be the one helping others, not the one asking. But right now I can’t do this alone.
Donations will go toward lost income, medical expenses, and basic living costs while I undergo surgery, radiation, and recovery.
Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you’re able to give.
With gratitude,
Sandy
