Hi everyone, my name is Kristen. I am asking for your help for my very best friend in the world, Sandy Riddle, and her husband, Larry Monaco. Sandy, who lives in WA, was down here in CA caring for her friend who has terminal cancer. Sandy had been here for 5 weeks when she got a terrifying phone call from a doctor in WA. This doctor told Sandy that her husband, Larry, was in the ICU with a massive brain bleed and was unconscious! My husband and I got her on a plane immediately back to WA.
Larry spent a month in the hospital. He was finally diagnosed with a rare brain condition called Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA). What this means is he has had to re-learn how to walk, talk, eat, dress, shower, and do basic living skills with the help of home-health physical, occupational, and speech therapists. His memory skills have been severely affected and Sandy has now had to be his full-time caregiver. This is a progressive disease with no cure. Larry's prognosis is poor.
Let me tell you about my friend Sandy. She has worked in the medical field as a medical assistant for 40 years, mostly taking care of OB patients. She is a caring and loving friend who loves animals and her friends dearly. She has been a dear friend of mine for over 25 years and has been a huge part of our family.
Many of you may remember MY health struggles in 2022 and Sandy flew out and stayed with me for 2-1/2 months and cared for me as I recuperated. She has cared for her family over the years, including donating one of her kidneys to her now deceased, ungrateful brother. She has also agreed to be my special needs daughter's guardian should anything happen to us.
Sandy also has struggled with her health over the years. She has a brain tumor and is facing surgery to prevent blindness but has been put on hold. Her heart is working at just 43% and she is now in kidney failure.
They struggle to survive on just Larry's social security, which is very little. Their hospital bills are astounding.
Please help support Sandy who has helped others all her life. Thank you so much!
