Hi All - We're the children of Sandy and Wayne McHenry and are creating this GoFundMe on their behalf.

As you may know, Sandy and Wayne have been going through a lot since Wayne suffered multiple strokes in late 2023 and early 2024. We’ve all been pitching in as much as possible to help cover their increased medical and living expenses. Unfortunately, Sandy has now been diagnosed with Stage 1A breast cancer, and the resulting medical expenses are causing a lot of stress and uncertainty in our family that is already stretched thin.

Sandy is in the beginning stages of diagnosis and treatment. The tumor type is an invasive carcinoma, so we are fortunate that it’s been found in an early stage. Sandy is scheduled for an MRI mammogram which will give a clearer picture of the size of the mass and will help confirm whether the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. The copay for this alone is $936, on top of travel costs, as the medical facility is a three-hour round trip from Sandy’s home. Her exact treatment plan is still unknown at this point, but we’ve been told it will range anywhere from chemo therapy and radiation (to shrink the tumor and keep it from spreading) to possibly a double mastectomy. No matter the treatment, Sandy is looking at a long road to recovery and extreme medical expenses.

If you know Sandy and Wayne, then you’ll know they are a bit proud and slightly stubborn and would not be asking for help in this way unless it was absolutely necessary. We are asking for positive thoughts that Sandy wins this battle and are kindly asking for donations. Our family would greatly appreciate any help you can give. Donations will go toward travel costs for Sandy’s medical appointments (often 1.5 hours one way), hospital stays, medical bills and any other cost that's needed during this time.
