We were told months to a year, then weeks, then days, all in less than one month's time. We had no time to prepare for this devastating loss. Sandra was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer that, unfortunately for all of us who loved her, spread throughout her body and left her unable to breathe due to a tumor blocking her airways. She fought so hard to get the treatment she needed to help her live for just a few more weeks so that she could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and family, but ultimately it took her way too soon. With Sandra, anytime was too soon. Sandra was the glue that kept our families together and grounded, a reasoning soul, a selfless and caring person who always put others above herself or any of her needs. The void that we are left with is nothing short of a crater.
