Last fall I returned to school at Sonoma State with the goal of receiving my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with my Bilingual Authorization. At the start of the school year I was presented with an amazing opportunity to be a full time 1st Grade teacher and of course, I said yes! Since then I have been working tirelessly to support my 23 students and at the same time juggle my classes and workload through a virtual platform.
There are a series of exams that need to be taken in order to get credentialed in the state of California. One of these exams is called the CalTPA (California Teacher Preparation Assessment). The submission for this is 3 five minute videos and a lot of writing where I express my teaching methods, what I know about my students, how I support them, what State Standards did I address, a math lesson, etc etc. It's a lot of writing. Fortunately for Google Docs I have all of that writing saved.
Unfortunately for my Macbook Pro, as many of you know, has decided to turn off and refuses to turn back on. Inside the hard-drive of that laptop I have my video for CalTPA and it is NOT saved anywhere else. All of my writing is of no use to me if I can't get that video back. I have tried everything possible to recuperate this video. Apple has refused to help, and so have other small companies. I did find luck with another company that specializes in retrieving this type of data but the charge to repair the damages on the computer and extract the video is way beyond my budget.
I am setting my pride aside to please ask for the financial help in order for me to complete and submit my CalTPA. With your help it will give me the opportunity to cross one more thing off my list and focus on my students, my classes, and the exams I need to take in the summer. I thank you now for taking the time to hear my story and I thank you again if you find it in your heart to help a teacher AND student in need.
