While walking my dog Moses, I didn’t notice a rise in the sidewalk and suddenly fell, landing hard on my hands, face, shoulder, and knees. Despite the pain, I managed to walk the half mile home with Moses, who was so worried he kept looking back at me. I just kept telling him, 'We gotta hurry, Puppy.' The next day, I went to urgent care and was sent to the emergency room, where I learned I had bilateral radial head fractures in both arms. The doctors explained that both fractures are in nearly identical spots and will require me to wear slings and forearm splints, with strict activity modification. I can’t grip, twist, push, or pull, and I have to avoid putting any weight on my arms. Recovery will be slow, especially since I have limited support at home. I’m unable to work as a nail technician until I heal, and my next follow-up is in six weeks to see if I need more immobilization or therapy. The bills don’t stop just because my income does. My spouse Brian is retired and on a fixed income, and he does some part-time work, but it’s not enough to cover everything. Moses, my German Shepherd, still needs to be cared for and fed and trust me, at 133 lbs that’s a lot of food. Any help you can offer would mean the world to me as I navigate this challenging time. Thank you so much for your kindness and support. Sharing this on your page would be greatly appreciated! ❤️
