I’ve known Sandra for more than 10 years.  She lives in the northeast of Brazil (Escada in Pernambuco). She started working in sugar cane when she was 11 and she was a mom at 14.  She doesn’t know how to read or write and has suffered domestic abuse for many years. Sandra is 39 now and a very strong woman.
 
In Brazil, more than 1200 women were killed by their partners or ex partners in 2018.  Every 2 minutes, 5 women are beaten and 80% of this abuse is committed by partners or ex partners.  
 
 
Sandra is starting a new life after leaving a relationship like that. She is hard working and a very good and honest person.  She doesn’t have her own house (she is renting) and this fundraising is to help her furnish her new place.  I hope she can start a peaceful life and never suffer violence again.
