Help Sandi's Family Through Recovery

Update* Grandkid's father, Joey, is in the hospital with what looks like a stroke from the stress of what happened and now the impending divorce. Please send prayers amidst this troubling time. When it rains, it pours...TY All.

Update** Joey had only a mini stroke, but the MRI is clear, but he still can't speak full sentences as if something neurological happened. Will keep updating.

I'm Kevin, Sandi's common-law husband. We are an older 50s couple on a fixed income. I'm disabled through the VA; I was combat disabled as an Army infantryman. Sandi is recovering, and we think she has beaten breast cancer after having had a mastectomy. Her youngest son has lived with us since he is autistic and can't function on his own.

We just received 2 grandkids, ages 6 and 11, for an unknown length of time while Sandi's oldest son, Joey, struggles with work and L&I from a workplace incident where a forklift crushed him. Joey's wife, Rachel, is struggling with mental health issues due to traumas to her family structure on her mother's side of the family (will explain as needed, but it made the local news).

I'm asking for enough help to get ahead of the chaos this has created since we are on a fixed income and absolutely not prepared for this change at our house. We are working on paperwork to enroll the kids in school and getting the needed paperwork for temporary guardianship to seek state resources. I've humbled up and am asking for just enough to get ahead of this situation until we can have it taken care of by ourselves. I thank you if you can help, I thank you for passing this forward, and I thank you for taking the time to read this. It's hard for me to ask for help, but I feel I need to do this.

The fact of what happened to start this entire situation is beyond belief, and I hope those involved get everything they deserve. I'm just helping to pick up the pieces and give these children a safe, loving home life.
