At 69, my aunt Sandie was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer. The diagnosis and treatment were more positive than we could have hoped for after learning of the cancer. While 3 chemo treatments are predicted to eradicate the cancer, they are close to $2,500+ each. Sandie and her husband Roger lead a modest life. Roger has been receiving a basic pension and social security. Together, that has been enough to pay mortgage and other important monthly bills.

Sandie was employed at a smaller local gas station. Her paycheck was there for smaller expenses like groceries, gas, etc. Working there, Sandie has been the best part of so many people's lives, and they have been hers. Sandie and Roger have had many ups and downs throughout their lives, and this will be no different as they will fight this together! Roger recently underwent surgery to remove cancer from his bladder. After kicking ass through that surgery, they're ready to take on the challenges Sandie is set to face.

Sandie is not only a mother and grandmother, but she has been a superhero to so many people. Despite the hard times, Sandie has helped in so many ways, such as helping people with rides to doctors, groceries, babysitting, comforting, and being an amazing, reliable friend.

As many of us know, it's hard to watch a loved one struggle in dark times. Finances have been difficult for all of us, which is why I understand donations might be tough for some. Anything as small as a dollar can have a snowball effect toward bringing life to this unwelcome situation. Prayers and well wishes are always accepted as they are known to have an immense effect on the healing process.
