Hello everyone,
My name is Sanaa Duboise, and I’m a 25-year-old senior at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. I started college in 2019 right after high school, determined to build a better future for myself. Since then, I’ve faced significant challenges, including mental and emotional struggles and the loss of both of my grandparents, who were helping support me financially. As the eldest daughter, I’ve also carried a lot of responsibility while trying to stay on track.
Despite everything, I’ve continued pushing forward, and I am now just five courses away from graduating in December 2026. However, I’ve reached a point where I can no longer manage everything on my own and truly need support to get through this period.
Right now, I am facing urgent financial challenges, including paying rent, covering groceries, and keeping up with essential bills. I am also behind on my car payments and working to catch up to avoid repossession, which would make it extremely difficult for me to get to school and to my hometown of Atlanta, GA if an emergency arises. I have also been experiencing food insecurity, which has made it even harder to focus on my studies and daily responsibilities.
In addition, I am preparing for the upcoming summer term. While I do receive financial aid, it does not fully cover my summer courses, and I currently have an outstanding balance that must be paid in order for me to remain enrolled and continue toward graduation.
I have done everything I can to find help before turning to mutual aid. I reached out to my school about emergency assistance, but those programs were discontinued, and I was told I already receive the maximum aid available. I also explored other options, including local community resources, but have not been able to secure the support I need.
I am currently in the process of searching for stable employment, but without immediate support, I am at risk of falling further behind and potentially losing my housing. This fundraiser would help me stay afloat during this transition, allowing me to focus on securing a job, maintaining stable housing, keeping my transportation, and completing my degree.
Every contribution will go directly toward rent, groceries, essential bills, catching up on my car payments, and covering my remaining summer tuition balance.
I’ve come too far to give up now, and finishing these last five courses means everything to me. Any support, whether through donations, sharing, or words of encouragement, would truly make a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer.
