Help San Rafael Students Experience Kenya and Support Daraja Academy!

For a group of San Rafael High School students, summer 2026 holds the promise of a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Kenya. These students are all active members of the Daraja Club at SRHS, a student group dedicated to supporting our sister school, the Daraja Academy – an all-girls' boarding school in Kenya.

This isn't just any trip; it's an incredible opportunity to live at Daraja Academy for a week, truly experiencing daily life alongside the girls we've worked so hard to support. Our itinerary is packed with enriching activities designed to foster cultural understanding and make a tangible difference:

-Cultural Immersion: We'll be visiting diverse ethnic communities, learning from women's collectives, and participating in authentic Maasai cultural events.

-Wildlife and Exploration: Adventures include exploring historical Mau Mau caves and an exhilarating baboon walk, culminating in an unforgettable overnight safari!

-Community Service: We'll work side-by-side with the Daraja Academy girls on a community service project, and we'll be hand-delivering much-needed school supplies.

While this trip is an independent endeavor and not affiliated with San Rafael High School, it’s a direct extension of our students' commitment to global citizenship and their ongoing support for Daraja Academy.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to offset costs for our students and chaperones including plane flights and in-country activities and expenses (accommodations, ground transportation, safari costs, cultural experiences, and community project materials).
