Hi, my name is Cassi, and I'm fundraising to help pay for my cat's medical bills.

As some of our friends and family know, my husband Grant is on a disability pension and unable to work, which left me to be the breadwinner. That was up until I was made redundant 3 weeks before christmas, and I am still yet to find a new job.

On top of this, our Samble, had to be taken to the vet yesterday, with what we originally thought was another pancreatic issue, which he has had in the past. Unfortunately, the initial tests showed that it was likely not his pancreas this time, and that he has an unknown obstruction in his intestine, a weird (but small) nodule in the wall of his stomach, his bloods were showing he had a low white blood cell count (but have been told, that could potentially be a false reading), and he also had a temperature that continued to rise even with fluids being pumped into him by the vets.

Long story short, our regular vets referred us to a specialist/emergency vet. This is obviously not cheap, with it being around $1,200 every 24 hours, just to stay there. Then, there is the cost of tests and treatments on top of that.

Today we went in to visit him, and while his temperature is still high, and he has not pooped or eaten since Wednesday (he did do a massive wee all over me though, yay?), we spent about 3 and a half hours with him, and pretty much the entire time, he was happy we were there. He gave us big smootchies and purrs, rolled around, gave us headbutts, and was just his normal happy and loving self, although clearly desperate to come home.

The vet we saw today, advised that he would need to stay in again tonight, and have a feeding tube inserted into his nose, and if he still hasn't passed the blockage or eaten on his own by monday, they would need to do more tests, with the potential to need surgery.

This weekend alone, we are looking at around $8,000 and then more should he need more tests and surgery. Sadly with our current financial circumstances, this would be a massive blow to mine and Grants savings, which means not a lot for us to live off while I continue to look for work, and I think with Sammies' health as it is, it would be unrealistic to ask him to find a job to help pay for his own bills.

As our Sammich with cheese is otherwise so happy, I don't want to lose him, just because I couldn't afford his medical bills, especially after all the blows we were dealt last year and if that is all that stands between him getting better and making a full recovery, which everyone is optimistic he will.

Should donations surpass what we need for his medical bills, we intend to donate the rest to the Veterinary Referral Hospital (VRH), to help them help other families treat their loved ones.

If you are unable to donate, we completely understand, life is hard at the moment, but if you would still like to help in some way, we ask that you share this page with your friends, families and followers, so Samma lamma ding dong can get the full treatment he needs, and come home to Grant, me and his siblings Dean and Lilith.
