Help Samurai the Shiba Inu Get Life-Saving Care
Donation protected
Last Wednesday while driving to the barn I came across a loose dog on the side of the road. According to friends, they had seen the dog lingering around the same spot all day. Dumped between the coyotes in the woods and a cow field, it was clear this dog needed help. Scared and growling, he eventually jumped in my truck and we were off to the vet for an exam and a rabies shot. Appearing to be ok overall, we headed back to my house for the night to figure out what to do next. Over the last few days we have learned that he has a chip with an owner who doesn’t want him back, that he’s a Shiba Inu and that he’s about 10 years old. He spent the weekend with me at the horse show and has really come out of his shell. He’s gone from growling at everything to seeking out attention and pets. He’s eating and playing and seems happy to be safe. Everything was going well! Then we got the call from the vet - this little Shiba we named Samurai is heart worm positive. Our vet believes Samurai is a good candidate for treatment though it is not without risk. We start that process next week and we are committed to helping this wonderful dog get the life he deserves…but we need your help! The estimate for his vet care - vaccines, neuter, and heart worm treatment is around $3000. Can you help us help him?
