Hi, my name is Samuel Rayner, and I’m a 22-year-old tennis player from Pershore, Worcestershire, working to break onto the professional doubles tour.
I grew up playing at Pershore Tennis Centre, where I first fell in love with the game and spent countless hours on court. At 16, I moved full-time to Edgbaston Priory to take my training to the next level. I now also coach and work with younger players at Edgbaston, helping the next generation develop their skills and passion for tennis while continuing my own journey in the sport.
Most recently, I made the biggest commitment of my career so far — relocating to Liverpool to fully dedicate myself to competing professionally.
I first picked up a tennis racquet at just 3 years old, and tennis has shaped my life ever since. The sport has taught me discipline, resilience, and how to keep pushing forward when the odds aren’t easy.
At 19, I made the decision to specialise in doubles, and everything clicked. My game, confidence, and results all took a big step forward. Now, I’m ready for the next stage: competing in my first professional tournaments and building my way onto the ITF doubles circuit.
I’m also proud to be supported by Tecnifibre and Bidi Badu, two brands that believe in my potential and are backing my journey.
Why I’m Asking for Support
Starting out on the professional tour comes with significant financial challenges. Unlike established players, early-stage professionals must self-fund almost everything.
The main costs include:
- Travel to national and international tournaments
- Accommodation during competition weeks
- Coaching, training, and physio
- Equipment, restringing, and recovery
These costs quickly add up and are the biggest barrier to getting consistent opportunities to compete.
What Your Support Means
Your support helps me enter tournaments, gain ranking points, and build real momentum on the professional circuit. Every contribution — no matter the size — directly supports my training and competition schedule.
Even sharing this page makes a huge difference.
Thank you for believing in my journey and supporting a lifelong dream. I’m excited to represent everyone who helps me along the way and to make you proud on the court.
