Samuel is 11 years old and has been a part of my life since he was a puppy. He has always had a good quality of life and consistent care, and although he is an older dog, he still has a chance of recovery with the right treatment. Since November, Samuel has been seriously ill. It started with severe abdominal pain, and after several tests, it was ruled out that he had ingested a foreign object. Despite initial treatments, his condition worsened, and he developed persistent bloody diarrhea for more than a month. On December 23rd, he experienced severe vomiting that led to severe dehydration, so he had to be rushed to the veterinary hospital. He was hospitalized and diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, which required immediate treatment. The kidney failure was reversed with emergency treatment. In addition, he currently has heart problems and is undergoing a new course of antibiotic treatment, which will be evaluated in the coming days. If there is no improvement, additional tests such as an abdominal ultrasound or an echocardiogram will be necessary, further increasing the medical costs. So far, all veterinary expenses have been covered with credit cards, creating a debt that is difficult to manage.
