A Firefighter’s Last Call for Help: Homeless, Hungry, and Still Fighting
By Samuel June
I never thought I’d be writing these words.
I served my community as a firefighter, trained to run toward danger while others ran away. I wore the badge with pride. I suited up for midnight fire calls, gave CPR in strangers’ living rooms, and held the hands of victims when their worlds were falling apart. I never imagined I’d be the one calling for help—this time, for myself.
But here I am.
I lost my apartment. I now sleep under a bridge, in truck stops, or stay awake all night inside fast food restaurants just to stay safe. I’m exhausted. I’m hungry. And more than anything—I’m shocked and heartbroken that the same community I risked my life for has turned its back on me.
I’m not lazy. I’m not giving up.
But I’ve lost my footing, and I’m running out of time.

Why I Need Your Help:
I’m trying to get my truck back from a title loan company.
It’s not just a vehicle—it’s my lifeline. Without it, I can’t get to job interviews, search for steady work, or even access basic necessities like food or hygiene. Without my truck, I can’t rebuild.
The payoff amount to reclaim it is $5,500.
This is the last piece I need to start over.

I don’t expect miracles.
I just want the chance to rebuild what I lost—and to serve others again, as I once did. I still believe in community, in brotherhood, and in second chances. I’m just praying someone believes in me too.
With deep gratitude and hope,
Samuel June
